Join us as we sit in with Ryan McKowen, Sweetwater Audio Sales Engineer and studio producer, to find out what you’ll need to help your students be successful in the Commercial realm. Ryan will share tips for vocal production, microphone technique, and products available through Sweetwater that will fit the various needs of the modern vocal professional!

  • November 13th, 11:00am Pass the Prescreen: Auditioning for Musical Theater College Programs

    Trying to navigate the college audition process for musical theater schools can be confusing, challenging, and overwhelming. What are Unifides? How do you choose the right cut for your prescreens? How do you make a dance video? Erin G. McCarthy offers 10 tips for demystifying this process and helping singers make a positive impression and break through to the live auditions. Erin has helped guide students through the audition process with great success, and her studio is represented in many Top 10 musical theater BFA programs, including CMU, MSM, BoCo, NYU Steinhardt, and CCM. She has developed a rigorous preparatory program for these college auditions and is excited to share her tried-and-true methods!

    In the words of author Jonathon Lethem, “the making of music is a continual process of borrowing and sharing.” But where do we draw the line between appropriation and appreciation when we are selecting repertoire to perform? This roundtable will offer a lively, in-depth conversation around issues of cultural appropriation in music, with a diverse and varied group of panelists including Tai Harden-Moore (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion consultant), Farah Kidwai (Los Angeles Opera and LA Master Chorale), and Michael Belle (San Francisco Opera).
